Looking through old copies of the Glasgow Evening Times online, I came across this (possible) murder, that I hadn't heard of. Nor can find anything else online on.
The murder of 14 year old schoolgirl Kim Anderson, her body found in early May 1972, in an area around the Central Line of the London Underground. She was from Ilford, but was found in the area around Newbury Park and Barkingside.
Does anyone remember/know anything about this girl's death?. Was it a murder (the police officially seem to have stated so)?. Was the murderer ever caught?.
news.google.com/newspapers?nid=2mus-XyGPC0C&dat=19720506&printsec=frontpage&hl=en (the story is on page 34 of the google pages for this newspaper entry, dated 9th May 1972, small story on the left hand side, bottom half, story is entitled 'girl's murder: police appeal')

Thank you.
Didn't think I would get a positive answer so quickly. LOL
Cheers.
(one of the Kray's best mates was one Johnny Squibb.........I wonder if this was his son?.)

Hi, I simply have an interest in unsolved murders and forgotten murders.
As the Glasgow Evening Times and Glasgow Herald archives have been free online for some time, I have spent many a happy hour looking at the two archives, looking at old news stories and just happened across this story, and it was one I had never heard of. Simple as that.

It was big news at the time, Johnny squib was caught very quickly but didn't even serve 5 years, he was pardoned for the queen's silver jubilee.

I was born in 73, so too young to remember it. I am only just about old enough to remember the disappearance and possible rape/murder of toddler Sandy Davidson in my hometown of Irvine in 1976. Which is still a famous Scottish case. The same year saw the infamous Renee and Andrew McRae case in the Highlands. Both 1976 cases are still unsolved, although most people agree on the identity of the killer REMOVED REFERENCE
Sorry, I am digressing.
Not even 5 yrs?. Disgusting. I assumed he was still locked up in Broadmoor. Almost no info online bar this site on this murder. Or none that I have come across.

I have no idea what prison he was in, I know he got a sentence of HMP with a recommendation he served a minimum of 10 years, I was only a child when it happened, i do remember it being front page of all the tabloids before all the family had been informed also a lady on the train saw it happening and pulled the emergency cord and nearly got fined for doing it.

I to knew Kim although I was young but she was a close family friend and can remember this tragic murder so well . I lived in oaks lane opposite the chase where Kim was found . My memory sketchy but seem to remember he was arrested in the Avenue Pub on Eastern Avenue
