With a massive influx of crime in the 1980s i was thinking of possible situations where killers could have come into contact with each other without knowing one anothers past.
The examples i thought of could be:-
Dirty dozen leader Sydney Cooke and Peter Tobin.
Both were chauffers for well known established figures, Cooke for sinister purposes and Tobin for money.
Dennis Nilsen and Michael Lupo.
Both were homosexual, both met people randomly, both lived in London and Lupo boasted about having 2000 lovers.
John Warboys and John Cannan
Both operated in the Dorset/ Poole/ Bournemouth areas even though they lived elsewhere and had a fasade of being rich and successful.
Rotherham shoe rapist James Lloyd and beast of wombwell Peter Pickering
While both operated vastly different private lives, they operated in South Yorkshire and carried out their crimes in the same period and at night.
Kenneth Erskine and night stalker Delroy Grant
Although one was captured in 1987 and one in 2009, because of their fixation on the elderly in London,both could possibly have operated together in the 1980s even though Grants official activities only go back to 1992.
Colin Hatch and Lennie Smith (dirty dozen member)
Both Hatch and Smith were known paedophiles and Smith was an earlier victim of Cooke. Both operated in London and would have roamed the streets.
Angus Sinclair and
Robert Black/ Peter Tobin
Black and Tobin were both born and grew up in Glasgow in the 1950s and 1960s. Both frequented Norfolk on their travels and holidays. Sinclair and Tobin have been linked to Bible John through convincing circumstances.
Of course these examples might not have happened but because of the enormous amount of activity in that decade i have no doubt that even just a few killers would have indirectly come into contact or close proximity with each other eg Christopher Hellewell and John Cannan waiting next to each other in a petrol station.
