Greenstead is an area of Colchester the home of James Fairweather (who killed two people see his listing for more info) earlier this year a man was arrested and convicted of breaking in to women's homes tying them up and robbing them. Now this weekend a 32 year old man has been charged with murdering a 52 year old man. All three cases happened within a mile or each other so is there something in the water

I doubt it. If there were a trend I would expect for every murder for there to be 50 lesser cases. If it were the water.
Whilst I cant put think of immediate examples now, thre are certain streets where lots of murders happen. I know this as when I add cases that are new, I search the street to see if its already added, and find multiple results but from 2017, 2016, 2013 etc etc. Its un-nerving to see that specific streets get so many multiple hits. They know who they are, (the streets I mean).
There is a street in the Liverpool area that had its name changed as it had so many murders.
I dont think Grinstead qualifies for this yet.

I guess its like saying that Bradford had a bad reputation in the 1970s with Mark Rowntree, Peter Sutcliffe and Donald Neilson.

The Essex Triangle by David Thurlow has details of murder & other crimes comitted in an area of Colchester, Great Dunmow (I think) & Tolleshunt d'Arcy. There's a ley line theory though I think it's just an area with a higher percentage of wrong'uns than the surrounding area!
