In the late 70s/early 80s a student was failing his exams. To avoid his parents finding out he shot them both at their home. He made a 400 mile round trip by motorcycle to do this in the middle of the night then went to lectures like nothing happened. I think he was released after about 25 years. It's another of those half remembered cases driving me mad, has anyone any further details? Many thanks

True Crime Magazine dated September 1984 printed the full story of the case and the Sunday People ran a story on January 5th 1992 about how Alder was godfather to a friends baby daughter.

There are mistakes on the article. Andrew's mother that he murdered was not called Joan, she was called Ann.
