Hi Admin I couldn't see this case in the archives:
Liverpool Echo Friday 20th February 1981
'At least 17 years' jail for killer A life sentence, with a recommendation that he should serve at least 17 years was passed at Manchester Crown Court on a man who had raped and strangled a 16 year old girl. Ernest Ward (25), of Mersey Road, Platt Bridge, Wigan, had been found guilty of murdering Donna Harris while she sunbathed by a lake near her home one day last August (1980, 26th)... ...Donna of Worsley Mesnes, Wigan, was attacked by Ward after a swimming session in the lake... ...After the jury had convicted Ward, the court heard he had been gaoled for 18 months in 1976 for a sex attack on a 19 year old shop assistant. He had dragged her into a field by the throat and indecently assaulted and robbed her.
