In January I am attending ( via Zoom) 4 talks to be given by John Dilworth.
The topics to be covered are European Convention on Human Rights, the role of the CPS,undercover policing and disclosure.
I think the role of the CPS should be particularly interesting as he will be " setting out some typically encountered public interest conundrums".
Mr Dilworth seems to have been involved in many high profile cases in the North West of England being for some years in charge of the North West CPS Complex Casework Unit.
I'm not sure whether there will be any opportunity to ask questions but let me know if there is any case or area of particular interest and I'll see if I can ask a question or at least look out for any comments he might make on the subject.

I will have a think.
My first reaction is to probe a recent 'quite' I read, and included, in which a person refers to the CPS as the 'Criminal Protection Service'. I think that was worth a 'chirtle', but I can't comment on whether its a value attack, or just an ignorant assault against the CPS. I always thought the CPS were quite competent, but I have seen a number of people critisising the CPS and saying that the police should decide whether a case is sent for trial, and that would imply the jury making that decision, not the CPS, which might have some mileage.
But thats just off the cuff.
